As a ten-year veteran of Catholic publishing, Michael was fond of joking about how the authors with the most titles on Cahtolic best sellers lists were usually deceased: Merton and Nouwen, primarily.
Please note that I set this out this way because Michael had an extravagent and unsparing sense of humor.
Michael left quite a bit of work unpublished and has had a couple of books go out of print as well. I am working hard to try to keep already-published work out there, bring the out-of print stuff back, and find places to publish the “new” stuff that he left on his computer hard drive.
This post will stay on top here and be regularly updated with news about Michael’s works:
I’ve constructed a special page dedicated to The How-To Book of the Mass. With the new English translation of the Mass being introduced over the next couple of years, we have a wonderful teaching moment about the liturgy, and Michael’s book, which was revised in 2007 with the proposed and probably changes on hand and in mind, is a great source for that.
I’m in the process of self-publishing a print (on paper, between covers) re-issue of The Power of the Cross. There will be a special page on that when it’s ready.
I’m also in the process of formatting and otherwise readying for publication a book he wrote on the counsels in St. Benedict’s Rule. I’m going to go total digital/ebook on that one, so look here or my blog for more in the next week or so.
That’s just a start. There’s quite a bit here, and I think many would benefit from reading it. I know I have over the past few months. Very much.
